What are the powertrain options in the new 2021 Santa Fe?
For the 2021 model year, the 2.4L direct-injected engine from last year is being replaced by a new standard option. The new standard engine is a Smartstream 2.5L 4-cylinder option featuring direct injection and multi-point injection, plus idle, stop and go. It’s tethered to an 8-speed automatic transmission to complete the powertrain.
Additionally, the 2.0L turbocharged engine option from last year is being replaced too. So, for 2021, the second available powertrain option is a Smartstream 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that features direct injection and is tethered to an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This option is able to generate 18% more power than its predecessor.
Finally, a third option is being introduced for the new model year, an available Smartstream 1.5L turbocharged hybrid electric powertrain tethered to a 6-speed automatic HEV-tuned transmission system plus HTRAC® all-wheel drive as standard features. Naturally, this will be the option found in the upcoming 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, which we’ll detail further in the future.
What other performance features are standard or available in the 2021 Santa Fe?
In addition to the new powertrain selection, the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe features a shift-by-wire transmission mode selector, a 7-pin trailer wire connection and trailer sway control function if you want to tow with your Santa Fe.
