If you lived in or around Cocoa, Florida you would have grown up hearing about the Kennedy Space Center. Kennedy Space Center is a space launch site located on Merritt Island. It is where the space shuttle launches from and where the Apollo moon rockets were launched from. It has quite the historic significance and is also open to the public to come and visit.
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex℠ is organized into various mission zones according to the U.S. Space program. People can navigate through the whole program in chronological order- Mercury. Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle, and more. The heroes and legends mission zone features all of NASA’s space pioneers throughout history. There is a guided bus tour available for all the different mission zones. But due to the social distancing norms of Covid’19, it is currently unavailable.
Next is the Apollo/Saturn V Center which pays homage to the people and machines that made the moon landing possible. After that comes the Space Shuttle Atlantis® which is the permanent home of the orbiter that transported astronauts to space and back for 30 years. The final mission zone is the NASA NOW+NEXT program which explores all the current and future missions of the International Space Station (ISS).
