Car Getting Realigned

When should I get my alignment checked?

An oft-overlooked service that is available and encouraged here at the Cocoa Hyundai service department is your alignment. You might not need it to be changed or fixed very often, but it is important to get it checked regularly to ensure that your vehicle is aligned properly. We thought we’d go over what exactly alignment is and tell you when you should be getting it checked or more.

What is alignment?

Having your wheels in alignment ensures that your tires will both last longer and perform as they should, which means having proper alignment will extend the length of time your tires last – thus saving you money – and improve things like handling. Noticed your car veering left or right while you take your hand off the steering wheel? You probably need to get realigned.

Signs You Need an Alignment Check

While alignment checks aren’t necessarily a regularly scheduled maintenance item, there are a few things to keep an eye out for that signal you need to get your alignment checked. If you look at your tires and notice the tread is wearing down unevenly, if, like we mentioned above, your vehicle is pulling left or right while you attempt to steer or remove your hands from the wheel, if you notice that you’re driving straight but your steering wheel isn’t centered, or if you notice excessive vibration while holding your steering wheel.

When should I get realigned?

If you notice any of these things, be sure to bring your vehicle in for an alignment check right away. There’s a chance these things could be caused by something else, but a realignment is the most likely prescription.

While your vehicle being out of alignment isn’t an immediate safety threat, getting it checked and fixed will make sure your vehicle handles properly and extend the life of your tires, so it’s a win-win for you.
