Each year, Consumer Guide Automotive editors test drive over 150 new vehicles. They then select which vehicles they think are the best in each class and give those vehicles the designation of Best Buy, which is the publication’s highest ranking. In order to win this recognition, a vehicle not only has to receive high marks in the editors’ objective testing but also provide excellent value when compared to other vehicles of its class. So, which Hyundai vehicles – if any – are on the 2020 lineup? There are now four, thanks to a rare mid-year evaluation by Consumer Guide, in which they added one more Hyundai vehicle.

“The new Hyundai Venue takes aim at the penny-pinching end of this segment, undercutting the starting price of the Kicks by about $1,500. Though its ride quality, engine noise levels, and extra-tidy overall dimensions will remind you you’re in a bargain-priced vehicle, the Venue wins us over nonetheless with its spunky design personality, pleasant interior ambiance, fuel economy, and passenger/cargo versatility.”

Subcompact Crossover

As you might have guessed from the quote above, the 2020 Hyundai Venue was the vehicle that was added late as the publication ran a mid-year reevaluation. It sits as one of the Best Buys in the Subcompact Crossover segment, but it’s not the only Hyundai to win in this category, as it joins the 2020 Hyundai Kona, which earns the award for the second year in a row.

Subcompact Car

The Venue and Kona aren’t the only subcompact vehicles on the lineup. The Subcompact Car segment might not be as booming as its crossover counterpart class, but it’s still a competitive segment, and the 2020 Hyundai Accent sits atop the class as one of the Best Buys for the third year in a row.

Midsize Crossover

Finally, that brings us to the midsize crossover segment, which was of course won by the new 2020 Hyundai Palisade. It sits atop the throne alongside similarly new Kia Telluride and the iconic Honda Pilot, which puts it in good company.
