You’ve probably heard us say it before, but we love highlighting awards that our vehicles receive. We’re firmly in award season in the automotive market as all of the big auto shows are taking place fairly regularly, so a ton of awards have been released across the industry. For us, we’re excited to tell you that a pair of Hyundai vehicles won 2019 GOOD DESIGN Awards. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the two vehicles that won are the same two that were finalists for the North American Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards.
“The 2020 Sonata and Palisade are the first sedan and SUV, respectively, to adopt Hyundai’s new customer-centered design philosophy, Sensuous Sportiness. We are honored to be recognized for their design excellence with this prestigious award. Evolution in Hyundai design will be more clearly revealed through our upcoming cars and we will remain focused on developing our customer-centered design philosophy, rather than designing from a manufacturer perspective.”
– SangYup Lee, Head, Hyundai Design Center
What are the GOOD DESIGN Awards?
These very prestigious awards are handed out by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Each year, these awards are meant to honor the different forms of design in terms of industrial, product and graphic. They are typically given to things that exemplify their ideals of creativity, form, function and aesthetics. This is the ninth year in a row that Hyundai vehicles have been honored with GOOD DESIGN awards and the third time for the Sonata.
