Sports cars used to be everywhere on the road. While they’re not quite as prominent as they once were decades ago, there are still plenty of affordable examples available on the market. In fact, there’s one available right here at Cocoa Hyundai. We thought we’d show you why our sports car makes a good choice by pitting it against another popular, affordable sports car on the market in a comparison of the 2017 Hyundai Veloster vs 2017 Toyota 86.
We’ve listed a few of the most important specifications to consider in a comparison like this in the table below, to give you a more visual look at how the two fare against one another. Then we’ll go into more detail about those advantages below that.
One might think that the Toyota vehicle would have the advantage in fuel efficiency, considering its hybrid technology legacy. But we thought we’d start there in the first row, which shows the Veloster getting 6 more miles to the gallon through city streets. The second row shows the same advantage, but for driving on the highway. Those two numbers combined equal some pretty nice savings at the gas station over time.
However, the trade-off is that the Toyota 86 does offer superior power, which is pretty unfortunate considering these are sports cars. But if you can overlook that disadvantage in favor of the sporty aesthetic of the Veloster and its fuel savings, then perhaps the fact that it offers 8.6 extra cubic feet of space in its trunk will help as well. That’s a trunk that’s nearly twice as large as the 86’s. If you think you might be interested in a 2017 Veloster of your own, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website.
