2018 Hyundai Tucson vs 2018 Nissan Rogue

The Hyundai lineup continues to expand each year, this year with the addition of the subcompact Kona crossover. But the 2018 Hyundai Tucson continues to be one of the most popular vehicles on the lineup regardless. In fact, we think it could be one of the most popular compact crossovers on the market because it makes such an excellent option in its class. To prove why we think this, we thought we’d compare the Tucson to one of its biggest competitors in the 2018 Nissan Rogue.

2018 Hyundai Tucson

vs

2018 Nissan Rogue

175 HP Horsepower 170 HP
3,500 lbs. Curb Weight 3,627 lbs.
1,500 lbs. Towing Capacity 1,000 lbs.
1,284 lbs. Payload 1,051 lbs.

Advantages of the 2018 Tucson

As you can see by taking a glance at the table above, these two vehicles are quite comparable to one another. But the Hyundai Tucson does edge it out in terms of the four different specifications we decided to look at, starting with power. Horsepower is important in every single vehicle, no matter what segment you’re looking at. Even though the Tucson only offers an extra 5 horsepower, combining that with the fact that it weighs 127 pounds less leads to the superior numbers in the rest of the table. Those numbers include towing capacity, which allows the Tucson to haul an extra 500 pounds over the Nissan Rogue when trailering, and payload, which allows the Tucson to carry over 200 pounds more weight in its cargo hold than the Rogue. While you might think numbers like these would be more important in a truck, weights are just as important in a crossover if you think you’ll ever be hauling stuff around – which you probably are, or you might not be thinking about a crossover. If you think you might be interested in a 2018 Hyundai Tucson of your own, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website or by giving us a call at the sales desk. We look forward to hearing from you.
