2020 Hyundai Elantra GT vs 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback
While it is one of the smaller segments out there, when it comes to compact hatchback sedans, there are quite a few options on the marketplace! Perhaps this is inspired by the popular hot hatches in Europe, but whatever the reason we’re pleased to be able to offer one such vehicle right here at Cocoa Hyundai! We thought we’d see how our compact hatchback sedan measures up to one of its biggest competitors, by pitting the 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT against the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback.
As you can see from the table above, we decide to look at a couple of the higher-tier trim levels for this comparison, but these two sedans are pretty comparable to one another. The Honda Civic Hatchback is considered by many to be the #1 vehicle in the segment, so we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy battle, but look just at the specifications the Elantra GT certainly holds its own.
Starting in the first row of the table, we looked at horsepower. The Elantra GT N Line is capable of generating up to 201 horsepower, which is 27 HP more than the Civic Hatchback EX. That’s not a massive difference but is definitely an advantage in the Hyundai model’s corner. However, the Civic Hatchback does fire back right away in terms of fuel economy. The Hyundai model’s extra power enables the Honda vehicle to achieve superior fuel efficiency in the way of six miles per gallon combined.
When it comes to space, the two sedans are even more similar to one another. The Honda Civic does offer a bit of extra cargo space, but 0.8 cubic feet is likely only enough room for an extra bag of groceries or a small box. Both offer seating for up to 5! If you can overlook the fuel efficiency deficit in favor of the superior power, then considering scheduling a test drive behind the wheel of a 2020 Hyundai Elantra GT today!
