2020 Hyundai Elantra vs 2020 Honda Civic Sedan
One of the most iconic vehicles on the Hyundai lineup, the Elantra has officially been around for three decades as of this year. It made its introduction all the way back in 1990, surpassed in longevity only by the Sonata, and is showing no signs of slowing its roll anytime soon. The compact sedan segment is still an incredibly competitive one despite the increasing growth of the crossover market, so we thought we’d see how our favorite entry into the segment fares against one of the most legendary options available.
The Honda Civic is one of the most recognizable cars of any segment and it has been a popular option for decades, even longer than the Elantra. But the table below, in which we compare the 2020 Hyundai Elantra and 2020 Honda Civic Sedan side by side, shows that each of these sedans has its own advantages.

Advantages of the 2020 Elantra
Honda is known for building incredibly reliable, efficient and stylish vehicles. Most if not all of our vehicles can be described in this manner as well, with one of those words in particular being on display here in this comparison. The first half of the table above looks at fuel economy, showcasing that the Elantra is more efficient than the Civic Sedan. Through city streets the Elantra achieves an extra 6 miles per gallon and hopping on the highway will still net you an extra 5 mpg. Those are fairly sizable differences that will certainly lead to savings at the pump in the long term.
Surprisingly, those advantages don’t float back quite as steeply the other direction. Superior fuel efficiency of this nature could have led to a much bigger performance advantage for the Civic Sedan, but in truth it only delivers an extra 11 horsepower, which would be difficult to notice. The Civic does have an advantage in terms of cargo capacity however, offering an extra 0.7 cubic feet of space in the trunk.
There are all sorts of other things that set these two sedans apart, from design to the abundance of features found in each. Check out our blog or give us a call to find out more about what the Elantra has to offer!
