Although it’s no longer the youngest model on the lineup, as Hyundai has been introducing a ton of new vehicles over the past few years, the Ioniq hybrid sedan is still certainly among the younger models on the lineup. The model made its debut in early 2016, going onto join the 2017 model year lineup later that year. What’s new in the 2020 Ioniq?

Although this isn’t a redesign or anything, the Ioniq has been majorly refreshed both inside and out for the 2020 model year. Some design changes include a new mesh-type grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers and wheels, brand-new side sill moldings and LED lights up front, in the back and for DRLs. In the cabin, the center LCD information screen, console upper cover and both upper and lower instrument panels are new, the latter of which has received dark chrome trim. An available 10.25” display audio screen has been added for top-of-the-line trim levels, while heating and cooling controls have been integrated into the touchscreen. Other controls are now adopting a piano key design, and a new high-tech and customizable ambient lighting system has been introduced. These design changes and new features aren’t the only things new for the 2020 model year. Plenty of different technologies and features have been introduced or switched up their availability throughout the trim level lineup. A lot of new technologies surround Hyundai SmartSense, such as the addition of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning and more. Other new technologies include regenerative brake level control paddles, Blue Link, an electronic parking brake, Qi wireless charging, power-folding side mirrors and more.
