The subcompact crossover segment has become increasingly popular over the past few years, growing fast from just a couple of models to an impressive number in relatively quick succession. Smaller utility vehicles have become so popular in fact, that Hyundai introduced the Venue for 2020, even smaller than the subcompact class. But when it comes to the subcompact segment, the Hyundai Kona is where it’s at. Introduced just back in 2018, it has become increasingly popular as well. We thought we’d see how it measures up to one of the other options in the growing segment by pitting the 2020 Hyundai Kona against the 2020 Ford EcoSport.
As you can see from the table above, the two crossovers are quite comparable to one another. We kicked things off with horsepower in the first row, an area in which the Kona is superior by 24 HP. That might not be a huge advantage, but the Kona will likely deliver a more enjoyable driving experience for those that like a little power under their foot.
Even with the superior power, the Hyundai Kona manages to achieve great fuel efficiency as well. With an extra 2 miles per gallon through city streets and on the highway combined, you’ll save some change at the pump as well. The Ford EcoSport does have an advantage of its own, however. In the third row we looked at cargo capacity, of which the EcoSport offers an extra 1.7 cubic feet. You’d be able to fit an extra bag of groceries or two in the EcoSport’s cargo hold. However, both crossovers offer seating for up to 5.
In addition to these specification differences, each crossover offers a vast array of features and content. There are plenty of other advantages to purchasing a Hyundai Kona as well, like Shopper Assurance and Owner Assurance. Give us a call if you think you might be interested in a 2020 Kona of your own!
