The 2020 model year has been a big one for the Hyundai brand as they enhanced many of their vehicles, completely redesigned their flagship sedan the Hyundai Sonata and, of course, introduced two brand-new crossovers. One of those brand-new vehicles was the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, a sleek and stunning three-row midsize crossover that we’re super excited about. It’s already made a splash on the market and looks poised to continue to do just that. We thought we’d showcase just how great an option it is by seeing how it measures up to one of its segment competitors, so we’ve pit it against the 2020 Ford Explorer.
One glance at the table above highlights the fact that each crossover has its own advantages. We kicked things off with horsepower, a very important aspect of any vehicle. While the Ford Explorer does offer 9 HP more than the Palisade, that’s a difference that most drivers would hardly notice. Both utility vehicles deliver an enjoyable experience behind the wheel regardless of this slight deficit.
Of course, there is usually a trade off to more power, and that’s decreased fuel economy. The Hyundai Palisade fires back with a slight advantage of its own in the second row, where we see it achieves two extra miles per gallon combined across highways and city streets. That might not be a massive difference either, but it would translate to some pocket change savings at the pump.
When it comes to space, these two vehicles are quite comparable to one another, though the Ford Explorer does tilt things in its favor by 0.2 cubic feet. We’re not quite sure how much extra stuff that would translate to, but the advantage is there. However, when it comes to seating, although both vehicles are three-row crossovers the Palisade can accommodate two whole extra people thanks to seating configurations.
