Last year the Hyundai Tucson received a mid-generation refresh, so there wasn’t much need for any changes or enhancements this year. Even still, the Tucson switched up its selection of exterior color options, replacing four old colors with the same number of new ones, and repackaged certain features so that they appear in earlier trim levels. Now that the 2020 Hyundai Tucson has arrived here at Cocoa Hyundai, we wanted to see how it measures up to one of its fiercest competitors by pitting it against the 2020 Ford Escape.
While the Tucson received a refresh last year, the 2020 model year marks the first of the Ford Escape’s fourth generation as it was completely redesigned. It is no surprise, then, that some of the Escape’s specifications are a bit superior to the Tucson, which was last redesigned in 2015. Even still, the Tucson does deliver the same horsepower as the Escape and can accommodate just as many passengers, so the two crossovers are still quite comparable to one another.
However, the Tucson does give up three miles per gallon combined across highways and city streets alike, which means you’ll save some pocket change at the gas pump in a Ford Escape. The Ford crossover’s cargo area is slightly larger than the Tucson’s as well, in the form of 2.5 cubic feet, so you’ll be able to fit a few extra grocery bags or a small suitcase behind the rear seats.
