We were so excited last year for the return of the Hyundai Veloster. After the vehicle sat out the 2018 model year, we were unsure what the future held, but it returned in force redesigned and better than ever for the 2019 model year. Now, the 2020 Hyundai Veloster in Cocoa FL looks to continue building upon the vehicle’s short legacy, which kicked off in 2011.
There aren’t a ton of coupes left on the market, outside of a few convertibles and several high-end sports cars and exotics. The Veloster looks to keep the classification alive with its sleek design and 2+1-door kammback style. Although it was just rebooted last year, engineers still saw fit to make a few changes for the new model year which increase its value even more.
Let’s first go over some of the changes for the new model year. For starters, the 6-speed manual transmission has been discontinued. It was only available on the Turbo Ultimate trim level last year, but engineers didn’t think it was necessary at all this year. To make up for it, cargo area tie-down hooks have been made standard across the board as they weren’t available at all last year.
The Blind Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Warning has been added to the Turbo R Spec model as it wasn’t available last year, now meaning only the base 2.0 trim level is without it. Wireless Charging was only available on certain trim levels last year, and its availability has adjusted to now be standard on the 2.0 Premium, Turbo and Turbo Ultimate. Finally, the flat black paint on the metallic grille, front and rear fascia accents and side skirts has been upgraded to a gloss finish.
Of course, these are just the things that have changed this year. There are still plenty of great design cues and features that were just introduced and improved last year, making the 2020 Veloster still an incredibly exciting option in the coupe market.
