2018 Hyundai Elantra GT vs 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback
One of the vehicles that received fairly substantial updates for the 2018 model year was the Elantra GT. A sporty compact hatchback sedan, the Elantra GT is ready to make its mark on the segment all over again. But, there is a new heavy hitter on the field, and we thought we’d see how the two compact hatchback sedans measure up to one another. To do this, we’ve compared the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT vs 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback.
Just below we’ve assembled a table filled with some of the most important specifications to consider when shopping for a hot hatch like these two. You can simply peruse the specs in the table, or you can read on below it for more details on how these two stack up to one another.
For the purpose of this comparison, we looked at the Sport trim level for both the Elantra GT and Civic Hatchback, wanting to make sure we were analyzing the sportiest possible version of each. Turns out, the Civic Hatchback’s Sport trim level just isn’t enough to compete with the high-performance Elantra GT.
The first two rows of the table analyze different power specifications, the first and more important being horsepower. The Elantra GT offers an extra 21 HP more than the Civic Hatchback, which might not sound like a big difference but in terms of horsepower, it certainly is. The second spec is torque, of which the Elantra GT again trumps the Civic, this time by 18 pound-feet. Of course, there is a trade-off for this power. The Civic Hatchback is certainly more efficient than the Elantra GT, meaning you’ll save a bit of cash at the pump and have a much further range on a single tank of fuel.
But power isn’t the last aspect in which the Elantra GT leads the duo, as it also offers a larger cargo capacity – by way of 2.3 cubic feet of space. If you’re interested in a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT of your own, be sure to schedule a test drive here on our website.
